Created in 2015 by the French Institute in Israel, the Night of Philosophy has grown into becoming one of the major cultural events in Israel. Over years, it has extended partnerships with the Goethe-Institut Israel, the Polish Institute in Tel Aviv and the Austrian Cultural Forum, therefore turning into a very unique international platform of dialogue and exchange.
The Night of Philosophy has framed and fostered the dialogue between European and Israeli philosophers and intellectuals, together with the Israeli public, on various topics of contemporary relevance. In Israel, it has offered rich and purposeful discussions, exchanges and debates between the different components of the civil society, including religious – seculars, Jews – Arabs, academics – political figures and policy makers.
This year, the online format of the Night of Philosophy in Israel, curated by philosopher Raphael Zagury-Orly together with the generous counsel and support of Dr. Felix Heidenreich (IZKT – University of Stuttgart, Germany), will address the complex and challenging issue of "The Future of Democracy". It will feature 25 contributions, lectures and panels with renowned scholars and intellectuals. In the spirit of its previous editions, the Night of Philosophy 2021 will enable a live dialogue between the speakers and the public throughout a chat service designed for this purpose.
25 online Lectures on June 10, 2021, from 4pm to 2am (Israel time, UTC+3). Lectures and discussions are in English, in Hebrew or in French as indicated by their titles.
