This talk addresses “Multispecies Justice and the City” from the perspective of the rapidly growing field of multispecies justice which challenges hierarchical and anthropocentric understandings of justice.

Ursula Heise teaches in the Department of English and at the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she holds the Marcia H. Howard Chair of Literary Studies. Her research and teaching focus on contemporary literature; environmental culture in the Americas, Western Europe and Japan; narrative theory; media theory; literature and science; and science fiction.  She is a 2011 Guggenheim Fellow and served as President of the Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment in 2011.
