DESCRIPTION:Societies are shaped not only by norms and interests, but also – and perhaps more importantly – by collective emotions and their management. Emotions are omnipresent in today’s politics. This makes it more crucial than ever to examine the complex interactions between emotions, society, and politics.\nSince the early 1990s, Eva Illouz has sparked a debate on collective emotions across various disciplines – from sociology and cultural studies to political theory. In reading her books and articles, this workshop will explore both the continuities and shifts in her work.\nHow have her assumptions evolved over time?
