SUMMARY:Philip Manow: Europe's New Dividing Lines. How the De-Consolidation of the Nation-State is Changing European Party Systems
DESCRIPTION:Among the key crises of our time is the rise of new populist parties and the weakening influence of traditional ones. The lecture explores these developments, interpreting the emergence of a new ideological blend—economically "left" and socially "right"—among populist parties as a form of protest against a supranational project that is, in itself, economically right-wing and culturally left-wing.\nEvent within the framework of the project "Democratic Society and Totalitarian Challenge," in cooperation with the Evangelical Educational Center Hospitalhof Stuttgart.\nThe event will be held in the German language.
